Meeting to finalise groundbreaking outsourcing contract postponed
The Cabinet meeting to finalise the contract for Capita Symonds to provide the planning and building control services to the authority has been postponed until 12th May 2009.
A special meeting of Cabinet, to discuss final agreements on the terms and conditions of the contract, was due to take place on Monday 20th April. The decision to postpone the meeting has been taken to allow members of the Development Control Committee, which is meeting on the same day, and other Council members who are on holiday to participate fully in the Cabinet’s deliberations over this ground breaking deal.
William Nunn, Leader of Breckland Council said; “It is expected that this initiative will deliver additional income for the Council within two years. The first improvement that residents will notice will be the introduction of software which will enable planning applications to be viewed on-line. Following lengthy negotiations and discussions I believe we will arrive at a deal which provides an opportunity to further develop our high quality service and offer savings for our council tax payers.”
