Local celebrities join Dragon’s Den Style Competition

Radio Heart’s Rob Chandler and Chrissie Jackson, who wake us up weekdays with their cheery banter and infectious laughter, will be hosting the Brecks Dragon’s Den Style competition launched by Breckland Council. The hunt is on for the best business idea in the district – the spark of inspiration which could launch a new company or make an inventor a millionaire.

Brecks Dragons Den Style competition is the quest to find the entrepreneur with the inkling of a new venture, or the company which wants to push ahead with growth despite the economic downturn, but needs support to get the project off the ground.

Sometimes the idea is just that – a spark of an invention without the financial backing to turn it into reality. Or perhaps the invention or the project is up and running, but needs the extra help to take it that next step forward.

The competition aims to recognise an inventor, entrepreneur or local company which has developed a recipe for commercial success, but needs premises and expert support to make it happen.

All you have to do is ensure that the idea is accompanied by some kind of business plan, showing that you’ve done your homework and investigated your marketplace.

We’ve assembled a panel of prominent local business people who will meet our candidates to judge the potential of their idea. Caroline Williams, Chief Executive of the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce, Mark Curtis, Partner in Larking Gowen, Sharon O’Mahony, owner of P&S Personnel and Edward Bales, Chief Executive of Poultec.

And what a prize the winner will get – a business unit rent and rate free for 12 months to help get their idea off the ground, continued business support from Breckland Council and our partners, IT equipment, branding designs, accountancy consultancy and much more.

The competition is FREE to enter and there’s no need to worry about the security of your idea – no-one’s going to try to steal your rights, and all entries will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.

You don’t have to have had any track record in business, either, and there’s no age limit. So what are you waiting for?
