The ‘F’ Factor clothes appeal
Have you recently had a clear out of your wardrobe? Are you left with a pile of out-dated clothes and accessories you no longer want? Your donations are urgently needed for the ‘F’ Factor Fashion project where they will receive a makeover and appear on the catwalk. All money raised from the event will go to charities chosen by school pupils.
Dereham students aged between 14 and 18 are being offered the exciting opportunity to get involved with organising a fashion show influenced by the trends of the 1950’s through to the 1980’s. Budding fashion designers, models, camera people, sound engineers, lighting technicians, make-up artists, to name but a few, will have the chance to learn the relevant skills in workshops being organised by Breckland Council and its partner agencies.
Potential young fashion designers will be set the challenge to transform clothes donated by charity shops, parents and friends into creations that their style-conscious friends would wear. Youngsters who have aspirations to become the next Kate Moss or Tyson Beckford will be given the chance to strut their stuff on the catwalk, whilst those that prefer to work behind the scenes will learn technical skills during the workshop sessions.
Theresa Hewett, Executive Member for Communities and Benefits explained:
“This is a fantastic opening for all enterprising young people and especially those with an interest in the fashion industry and related businesses to learn and gain confidence through organising such a big, high profile event.”
The fashion workshops start in December, if you have any unwanted garments and accessories please contact Breckland Council Sustainable Communities Officer, Sarah Smith on 01362 656870 or email: sarah.smith@breckland.gov.uk or Helen Fletcher, Extended School’s Co-ordinator on 07900 607963, or email: derehamextschools@btinternet.com
